I'm kind of on Spring Break. Technically it doesn't start until Thursday, but I haven't got any calls for sub jobs. I'm not complaining, though.
Today on my Spring Break, I took a ride downtown Salt Lake on TRAX (the lightrail). I had an enjoyable 20 minute ride to my mom's work by the U and back home. I took a book, hunkered down, and sped read.
But way before I hunkered anywhere, I had to get out of my car and cross the street to the TRAX stop to purchace my ticket. I had with me a purse and my book, with a blue metal bookmark holding my spot.
As I crossed the street, I tucked my book under my arm. I noticed an old rusty spring, about 24'' long in my path across the street, made my way around it, and continued on my way. As I passed the spring, I heard a little "clink" on the ground and thought, "My foot must have brushed against the spring."
I got on the train, sat down, and went to open my book, when I noticed the blue metal bookmark was missing. I searched the ground around me; nothing.
Then it hit me; the "clink" I heard by the spring must have been my bookmark, falling out of my book.
I didn't think much of it the rest of the trip. My mom and I had a wonderful lunch, I walked around the mall, and decided to come home because my feet were freezing (it's sunny, but windy--I wore flip-flops). I spent the whole trip home reading.
When I got off the train, walked across the same road as before, I spotted my blue metal bookmard right next to the old rusty spring!!!
It was total luck. It made me happy to know that noone must have seen it or perhaps they thought I'd be back to get it.
Happy Day!!!
