I know I'm no Lindsey Lohan, but, seriously??

Today I had a bit of time on my side so I sat down and tuned into one station that really bothers me: VH1. Sure, I'm into pop culture and music, much of what is offered on that channel. However, today I have to make a stand and put my foot down...Hard. You see, today as I was watching the program entitled "The Fabulous Life of Young Starlets," (or something like that), I was totally blown away at what I witnessed. I've heard the statistics before, read the reports regular, and was surprisingly shocked at what the Brit-accented announcer was saying.

The thing that shocked me? Young women, most around my age or younger, in Hollywood are earning an insane amount of money, spending it on insane amounts of Louis Vaton purses, mansions in Beverly Hills, and diamond encrusted dog collars for their pocket sized pooches. Most of them, according to the announcer fellow, have yet to step foot in a college classroom, work a real job (ie flipping burgers or lugging electronic equipment around a department store), or had experiences that add character.

I became angered the most when I heard about the amount of money a young starlet such as Hilary Duff, Lindsey Lohan, Paris Hilton or Micsha Barton earn per appearance on TV or movie/music gig. One episode of THE OC earned Barton more money that I'll probably earn my first year of teaching. After going through education and English classes in order to earn a teaching certificate, I attest that I've worked hard to be the best teacher I can be. It simply outrages me that these starlets, whose real main purpose is to look cute in front of the camera and bring in the bucks at the box office, get paid more than the nation's educators. Most teachers will be quick to admit they didn't go into teaching for the money, and I agree whole-heartedly, but it still seems a bit odd.

No--No--No, I'm not bitter. I just don't get it! I love entertainment just as much as the next guy, but, come on, is that right in any sense?? I guess I'll never understand.

On a lighter note--I'm anxiously awaiting Ben's arrival. I've sure missed him! With the trauma with the eel last night and a freaky encounter with our ever so lovely scorpion this morning, I can't wait for him to get back to protect me from his creepy animals. SHHH...don't tell...but one day I'm gonna get back at him by bringing home is least favorite animal: a cat!!!!

Happy last day of November, time sure flies. Love you all.
