Why I'm drinking milk

Happy Sabbath, everyone. I've had a most wonderful day and am glad to top it off with posting.

I sure hope everyone has had a good weekend. It's been one heckuva break for me, but alas, I'm glad to be going back to Eagle Rock tomorrow.

Moving on...
A funny thing happened today at church.

Being of the Mormon persuasion (a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), it is quite common to hear of so-and-so's pregnancy or so-and-so's new baby. Since we're in 'burgy Idaho, where Mormons are as common as potatoes, the number of "young marrieds" is high and consequentially, the number of babies is even higher. Typically, every Sunday in my ward, there is at least one new baby arrival announcement made. By now, no doubt, I'm quite accustomed to such news and find it hard to sigh the sigh of excitement for one more dang baby screaming during sacrament!!!

Well, as also is common in a LDS ward meeting, we got a re-vamp of the Relief Society presidency. The old one is, you guessed it, pregnant and due any second. They announced the new pres and then during our RS meeting, she politely introduced herself, while tears of joy ran down her face. Little does this newly-wed wife know what she's in for. After her precious introduction, Mrs. Pres asked if we could all introduce ourselves vocally one by one, stating our name, living quarters, school plans, and years married. With a RS of nearly 200, it took quite a while! (Luckily not everyone was there today). So, happily, we all went around giving the appropriate information and grinning at the faces whom we don't know.

Now, combine the pregnancy statistics with the introduction information above and you get what happened next: A overabudance of pregnant Relief Society sisters! I'm not kidding you with this one, and I'm putting all sarcasm/joking aside. After the first FOUR sisters proudly announced the arrival of their own bundle of joy in June (my blessed birth month), I began counting the number of June due-dates. In total: (oh, you'll never guess) 16!!! Yup! 16! Besides those who hopefully will be lucky enough to bring forth a baby on the 6th of the summer month, I counted nearly 10 more sisters who will be delivering the months prior to June and a few in the month of July!!!

Don't get me wrong here, dear reader. I am pleased as pink raspberry punch for these sweet young sisters and their equally sweet husbands. I myself am excited for the time of my life when I will have a cute little baby bubble on my middle, but recognize that time isn't here yet. I know the decision to have children is up to the couple and no one else so I am not here to judge. It was an astonishing experience for me to wittiness this strange event that can only be explained by one sisters'observation: "There's something in the water here, girls, it'll happen to all of you if you stay here too long."

My only solution to this: Drink milk instead!!!!
