Ode to a Student Paper

Sorry, dear readers, for taking so long to post. I've spent my time consumed in correcting student papers and have now, thankfully, completed the majority of papers needed for Parent Teacher conferences this week. I dedicate this entry to the many student papers I've corrected and the many mistakes that have quickly become my biggest pet peeves:

Hello, student paper. Come on in, sit down on my couch. Take a short rest from your labors. Rest a while before I examine your every move and pick you apart as if I were peeling an orange.
So far student paper you've not done a good job at representing yourself well I'm ashamed to have to do this but alas I must use the red pen on the last two sentences for they are in fact run-ons and did we not go over run-ons just last week?
And now, look here. You've misspelled CONSENTRASHION camps, yet again, and left out the 't' in Hitler. I also see that you've tried spelling "caught" every which way (cot, cawt, cogt, coght). Please, dear student paper, pay attention during spelling lessons.
Here we have another error; you've used the two words you should never use in writing: a lot. Remember one day when I went to the board and wrote better words for the words "a lot?" Yes, you see, I said you could use "more," or "many," or "quite a bit," but NEVER 'a lot.' Perhaps the ginormous circle around 'a lot' will make you think next time before you write 'a lot.'
Well, student paper, at least you've managed to put your name at the top. It helps in giving you a score. Next time, however, leave the doodles and drawings of your pony/cat/dog/girlfriend/boyfriend/shoes/hand/eyeball/food off...all I'm looking for is correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Is that too much to ask for, really??

Just a quick update on my life for those of you who really care:

-Spent last weekend in Wyoming/Utah for various family events. Had a fantastic time, except that my bubaru (Subaru) pooped out and finally died completely on I215 in Utah. It's living at Mom and Dad Hubert's home until we can get down to fix it. I hate cars.

-Student teaching is, amazingly, on the downhill slope. Next week I start a poetry unit. The week after that is spring break. After spring break, only 3 more weeks left. Getting excited for graduation and getting out of Rexburg!

Everything else is great. We are all doing well here and despite my tiredness and sometimes crankiness, Ben is just fine.

Love you all.
