On this, the last day of my weekend, I thought I'd stop on by my blogsite and drop a line.
I've had a fabulous weekend, but I am quite looking forward to returning to school tomorrow. I miss those little munchkins. Tomorrow I start a poetry unit; something much more upbeat and exciting that the dreariness of the Holocaust. As poetry is fun for some and dreadful for others, wish me luck that all of my creative lessons will be a hit with those hormonal teens.
Speaking of lessons, let me share one I learned today at church. While this may not seem profound to any of my readers, it is something I, as a future teacher, took right to heart. Excuse me if I get a bit preachy here:
Have you ever been so completely annoyed by someone that you wondered, "Wow, I feel bad for their parents/spouse/friends,ect?" You find one or two aspects of their personality so annoying that, perhaps, you would go far as to say that you "hate" that aspect about that person, or even hate that person??
Today in RS we were talking about slanderer (talking bad about someone else) and one sister made the comment that usually when you are annoyed by someones flaws or faults or you are irritated by something they do, it means that you probably have some of the same tendincies. Or, it means that you probably don't like that very thing about yourself. Maybe I'm sounding crazy here, but I am going to try this week to take that to heart. With students, fellow teachers, peers, Ben, etc. When I find myself nitpicking someone for what they are doing, I really want to try to be better and turning the fault of judging back on myself.
Wish me luck with my week goal.
Have a splendid week. Love you all.
