I had the strangest dream a few nights ago. I can't seem to get it out of my head and consequentially, sleep has been limited for a few days.
In my dream, I was somewhere with Ben. We were vacationing. I don't know exactly where we were, but I know it was somewhere warm and I couldn't get my mind off the beautiful flowers that surrounded us.
I treated myself to a day at the spa and while I was there, I decided to get my nails done. The lady, obviously foreign, did her best to comprehend what I wanted done, and then went to work.
After that, the dream gets a little fuzzy; I don't remember actually getting my nails done, so that's what makes the next part a little freaky.
Later that night, Ben and I were at dinner. I looked down at my thumb (on the left hand) and noticed a huge sore on the cuticle, kind of like a wickedly bad hang-nail. I remember actually touching the sore and realizing that it really was VERY sore. I showed it to Ben, who, like always, kisses my owies (I know, sappy). He took a second look and begain prodding this sore.
As he poked and prodded the sore, he pushed on my skin a little bit harder than before.
(Here's where it gets really freaky)
Out of the sore came a teeny, tiny, skinny worm. It didn't stop flowing out of my thumb. It just keep slithering out. When Ben would stop poking it, the worm stopped coming out; whenever Ben touched the thumb, this ugly reddish/brown worm creepy-crawled outside of me.
This went on forever, at least in the dream, and I remember just looking at this worm with complete horror. I was grossed out, for sure.
Well, finally, the worm stopped and eventually was completely out of my thumb. Ben pushed on my thumb again and again to make sure nothing else would come out. And, something else DID come out...
What looked like soggy cotton balls slowly dripped out of the sore. In the dream, Ben concluded it was the worms eggs or something like that, but now looking back on the dream, I think it was something even grosser than that.
Luckily after that atrocious ordeal, I woke up. I was panicking and quite shaken by the whole thing. When I was awake, I stuck my thumb up and turned on the light, just to make sure there really wasn't a sore there.
I was frightened, however, to then see an actual sore right where the worm had come out of. As scared as I was about the dream, I pushed in my thumb, just to make sure nothing came out. Obviously the outcome was safe; all I encountered was pain from the sore, no worm.
Needless to say, I had a difficult time sleeping comfortably the rest of the night. I was overly-protective of my thumb; I tried hard to keep it covered and protected.
Last night as I attempted to fall asleep, the images of that worm kept coming back. (Hopefully it doesn't come to you when you try to sleep). It was almost ridiculous what I had to do to get that image out of my head long enough to fall asleep.
If anyone is keen to dreams and has an idea of what this dream might have meant, let me know.
I'm wondering.
Love you all. Happy sleeping!
