I recently became aware of a new study that claims that chapstick is hazardous to humans.
Apparently, addiction to any form of lip treatment can cause the lips to stop producing essential oils on their own; thus the need to apply balm frequently.
I was skeptical of the news and thought it was totally bogus, especially due to the fact that I have the world's dryest skin (and lips, usually). But, alas, I decided to try my hand at quiting the use of any form of chapstick.
It's been 3 days and my lips are cracked, sore, and red. I kind of look like a clown. I've only used chapstick three times (once each day), but today I had to put some Neosporin on around the edges because of the lacerations.
I think my experiment is up. Yes, I'm a chapstick addict; yes, I can't seem to get enough.
No way am I giving it up.
