bowling

We went bowling last night.

I'm really bad.

Ben's even worse.

We went with our friends, Jake and Angel, and also Ben's littlest brother, Jaren and his girl Mariah. It was loads of fun.

It was "cosmic" bowling, where it's essentially pitch black inside the alley, except they turn on black lights that, in turn, highlight anything white on your body, ie, clothes, shoes, teeth. (It also makes you look 100% tanner than you really are, which is exciting until you realize, no, I haven't been tanning lately) At the time we arrived, they were playing a Sirus radio station with "hit's from the 90's." I also thought it could have been "hits from when I was in junior high/high school," but that's just me.

We bowled two games. The first one I merely was warming up (ha) and only got a 50 something. Believe it or not, I wasn't in last place, with Jake just a few points behind me.

Jaren was by far the best bowler and taught us all how to do the enviable "spin" where the ball literally curves into the pins. It was amazing. The first game, he bowled 147.

Then Ben decided to try the "Jaren Spin," and did pretty well at first. Until....

...He goes up to drop the ball, puts way too much umph into it, and falls flat on his face. We all saw and (sadly) we all laughed. The man operating the bowling alley walked up to him and said, in as calm of voice as possible, "Sir, bowling really isn't a contact sport. I would ask that you try to stay standing." Then he burst into a chuckle.

The second game I bowled a 79. Wahoo.

I guess my 7th grade bowling lessons really didn't pay off much.

Happy weekend.
