movie day

After staying up until 6am this morning finishing the 5th Harry Potter book for the 2nd time (though, it was like I had never read it before), and sleeping until 11, Ben and I went to see the movie at 12 today. It was excellent. As I read the 5th book (that is seriously all I did yesterday and into this morning), I was excited to see how to trimmed down the nearly 800 page book into a decent movie. The movie did a great job of getting down the basics of the book, though some of my favorite parts of the book were missing in the movie. I hope to see it again soon. And yes, I still have a tiny crush on Rupert Grint. (And I've taken quite a liking to the speech and pronunciation habits of our British friends..I rather like their word for 'making-out,' which is 'snogging,' and an all time favorite: 'boogy' instead of the sicklier, 'booger.')

After the movie, Ben and I went out to the motorcycle, only to find that it had been given the 'boot,' and hence, we couldn't go home straightaway. We had to wait for the chap to come unlock it and Ben talked his way out of paying $50 to do so (there were no signs posted). I came home and decided I'd neglected my house cleaning so I spent a few hours picking up and cleaning. Ben left for work, I made dinner and from-scratch brownies.

And then, my friends, I watched the most politically and environmentally charged piece of film I've seen in a rather long time: Happy Feet. It started out splendid; I thought Mumbles was a great, lovable character and adored the group of 'amigos,' led by the voice of Robin Williams. Then, however, a little over an hour into the movie, it kind of turned into a political and environmental statement. The basic gist was that the humans were ruining the penguins environment. I was so flabbergasted; know wonder my brother didn't much like the movie, either. Not that I entirely hated the movie, it was just a tad confusing...I mean, I thought it was supposed to be a kids flick. I'm ever growing more and more convinced that we need to rethink some our current societal practices (like, I'm interested in hybrid cars, recycling, and saving energy), but I found this film a weird place to lobby for change. Anyway, after the movie ended...I pressed 'stop' as soon as credits began to roll...I came and looked on Rotten Tomatoes reviews of the movie.

Oh, and, how cool was Live Earth?!?!?! I've been watching clips from the 24 hour concert all week. I especially found the Police/John Mayer/Kanye West collaboration quite fantastic.

Well, I'm sufficiently spent; ready for a normal night's sleep. Lots to do tomorrow!!

Kanye West?!?!?!?! Kanye West?!?!?!?
Who'd have ever thought you would enjoy his performance.:) I watched some of it on the weekend but my mind tends to wander. I will have to look up the part you talked about. I found a link on MSNBC where you can pretty much choose what you want to watch.
I like Sting and John Mayer(although he needs to choose better girlfriends.)
The Harry Potter movie sounds fun but not sure I will see it, since I can't manage to get to any others that are out there.
Love ya
