I feel good knowing that I can survive in my ghetto neighborhood without the protection of my husband.
As I was driving home from Laci's shower I was getting the jitteries knowing that I'd be home alone in my house for the first time since moving into our house. I knew I'd locked all the doors and windows, but I still got nervous walking in the door. I walked in, locked the door behind me and did a walk-through of my house to make sure I was the only one occupying my living quarters.
I stayed up until about 12:30, got ready for bed and then locked myself in my bedroom...you know, just in case some gangsta decided to walk in my crib and busta cap on me. It took me a bit to turn my brain off and fall asleep. I'm happy to say that no one entered my house whilst I was slumbering and I managed to sleep in until after 9 because I didn't have the dog whining to wake me up!
I also did some very independent woman things today that Ben usually does for me (he tells me I should do them always, and sometimes I do, but...). I filled my car up with gas (I usually do that one), checked the oil (still FULL), and put air in my tires. As I filled my tires I thought, "Wow, I could really be single and be fine!" (Not that I want to be single anytime soon, trust me!
I spent the day with Grandma Ella and Cassidy. We went to Liberty Park and went on the rides (that are so freakin' old, I thought they'd break), wadded in the 7 Canyon Fountain (so cool), and played in the playground. We went to Burger King for lunch (I got the Ned Flanders toy in my kids meal), and then went to grandma's to swim. It was an enjoyable day.
It's been weird, though, not having the dog or Ben around. Kind of a nice change...though I miss Ben like mad.(It's kind of like that saying, you never realize what you've got until it's gone). I don't have to worry about the dog barking, or trying to eat my food, or taking him out to pee. They'll come back on Saturday and I'm sure will have a story to tell of the hiking experience.

I can't read your purple font--is it just me?
I was surprised to find out you had never been alone--I thought Ben went sometimes to go fishing with his dad etc? Your neighborhood is just a little scary-but no more than mine.
I got home my normal time tonight and had been here about 20 minutes..the power went out. I called the power company and after an hour of calls etc they told me how to reset the breaker outside--at least they didnt have to come for a service call. I hate that sensation of being without power....and it got warm really quick.
Glad U get to spend some time with Cassidy--she's totally entertaining.
Love ya
