new phone and the power outage

It seems like the story of our life this summer is the power outages. To be honest, we've only had one other one, but last night's power outage should be enough to last for at least the rest of the summer.

I called Ben while on my way home from hanging out with my mom and he said, "I'm sitting in the dark," which I thought meant he hadn't turned any lights on. We decided to meet at Best Buy to look at a new iPod for me since mine is on the fritz.

I got there and was rushing Ben because I wanted to get home, to which he said that the power was out so there was no hurry to get home. So we walked around and I saw the iPod I wanted---a pink Nano, 8GB. We had the guy get it out and then Ben realized this guy was the same guy who sold him our cell phones, so we got to talking.

They figured that two of our phones could have an upgrade and get a new phone. My phone wasn't up for upgrade, but Ben and his dad's where, and since Ben loves his phone (3 years old), I choose one I liked--the new red Shine (the one with the commercial will Lauren Conrad from The Hills and Brody Jenner)--and we proceeded to do the paperwork to get the phones. After a heck of a time getting it all figured out, we left Best Buy at 10:35.

When we started driving on our street, I noticed that it was all dark, no lights. I figured the power was still out. Sure enough, the power was still out and the house was BURNING UP!! I called the power people and they told me that 500 customers were without power because of a down/burnt power line. Great. They had no idea how long it'd be off and said to call back for more updates.

We just decided to go to bed in our sweltering hot room. I had a tough time going to sleep. When the power came back on at 3:45am, the cooler in our room went on, I heard the TV and speakers go on, and all the lights in the house went on. Ben got up to turn everything off and soon enough the room had cooled down and we both fell back to sleep.

As I talked to people at church we all commented about how we all are so used to just having power that when it is gone, we go crazy. I took the dog out last night with a camping lantern and told him that it was like camping, only we're at home. I'm thankful for power and thankful that none of my food spoiled!!!

(Read on...I have posted several other things today....)

Power Outages, Tornados, Wind Storms. We’ve all seen the after-effects, entire communities without power. I’ve read that on average 3.5 million people lose their power in the US each week! We lost power and the big box store was out of generators. Luckily we found a generator on the internet at mainpowerconnect.com We should now have the power needed when faced with these unexpected outages. The generator will keep the lights on, food cold and our air conditioning working. Hopefully the generator will also keep our sump pump working to protect the basement from flooding.

And I recall you telling me that you aren't doing much this summer..looks like you've had alot going on this last weekend especially. The boating looks like fun(for others, not me) but I don't mind riding on a boat occasionally.
The only way I order prints anymore is upload them to Walmarts website and send the order that way..I think you still wouldn't get them in an hour, but I've never been in a big hurry.

Send me some pics

Love ya
